Photographs of surnames found on gravestones tell the stories of the famous mothers Eve, Judy (of Punch & Judy) and Hester of The Scarlet Letter. Each poem uses the language of the period described with biblical and puritanical terms like “thyfault” and British slang “attaway” and “jolly root tooter.”
